Interviews are often the proving ground for which DP’s and cameramen are pros and those who are not. It’s easy to blast an interview subject with flat light, making them look like they were videotaped in 1982. To look like a classy feature-length documentary is another, yet achievable reality.

The talented, Emmy-winning gang at Stillmotion have put together a video showing how it’s done right. Watch Patrick guide you through using various Profoto gear to set up your key light, hair light, fill, and background lighting. If you want to use your DSLR or videocamera to shoot a seated interviewee, don’t miss this free video.

Very nice job, Stillmotion! Check out more by this awesome studio on their site, blog, Vimeo, and Twitter.
