With the launch of the D1, Profoto is setting a new standard for professional monolights. Boasting a generous 7 f-stop power range, action-stopping short flash durations, and color stability comparable with that of a high-end studio generator, the D1 proves that superior performance can be delivered in a compact and affordable package. The D1 is available in 250, 500 and 1,000 Ws versions. The D1 is also fully compatible with Profoto’s renowned Light Shaping Tools system, which makes it ideal for all sorts of photography – ranging from studio portraits and product shoots to lively wedding assignments out in the sun.

What is a monolight

Monolights (or monoblocs) are self-contained flash units. Unlike a flash pack, which has a separate generator and a number of flash heads, the monolight has its own built-in power source. This makes it smaller, more lightweight and a lot easier to bring along to an on-location shoot.
